1960’s Summer Paradise with Sunburst Fabrics from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Sunburst_banner copy

My favorite season of the year is Summer so when I see bright and colorful fabric prints, I automatically get excited! Today’s Lookbook release is a special one because it’s our collection called Sunburst, that just transports you into a 1960’s mid-summer paradise. All the designs just make you want to sit by the poolside and soak up some rays like the print “Fun in the Sun Chill” which is the one featuring the ladies laying on towels, the fresh lemons, and the beach balls! I can already see so many summer projects being made that just ...

HST Zanthia Pillow from Art Gallery Fabrics-The Creative Blog

Zanthia copy

Welcome back, fabric friends!

Today we are featuring one of my favorite and easiest way to create a patchwork pillow, I like to call this one "Zanthia" and if you know about basic half-square triangles, then you'll especially love making this pillow. Once you create the HSTs, all it takes is some cutting and rearranging to complete this look!

Have fun with your fabric choices too, as for this tutorial I kept it simple by using AGF Pure Solids, but play around with some movement by including some prints.

Let's get started!

Lots of catching up . . . help is on the way from easypatchwork

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by and reading the blog today. There is so much to catch up on since my last post in February 2020. I had big plans for the blog with new and exciting posts, but one thing led to another, and we were all plagued by COVID-19 and the ramifications. I will admit, it wasn't at all easy for us. We were thrown quickly into a lockdown in early March and lasted for a good six weeks. My teeangers were stuck in "home-office" as well as my husband, and I was, unfortunately, thrown into the ...

The best of Friday to you all! Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post today.

McCalls Quilting magazine has just published my Christmas pillow, which we called Jolly Holiday, in their most recent issue – Summer, July/August 2020. Now, if you’re at all like me, and appreciate the fact that our Spring has only just finally arrived, the last thing you’re going to want to think about is Christmas! I know, I know! I truly feel exactly the same way.

But, Christmas is still coming. Maybe you’d love ...

Selvage Expedition - Spool Blocks from Sew Fresh Quilts

I am not a "scrap quilter"....

But I am a quilter.

So naturally, I don't want to throw any scraps away!

I have been saving and using my scraps along the way. But up until now, I have not done anything with my selvage strips. Except save them. I don't cut a selvage from yardage. Most of my selvages were the result of trimming a finished baby quilt.

Something grabbed ahold of me soon after completing my SHOP HOP full size blocks.

And felt this sudden impulsive urge to play.

These Simple Spools are each made using 2 ...

The Paradigm Third Rail Quilt from Blossom Heart Quilts

Each month this year for the Mini Masterpieces QAL, I am remaking each mini quilt from my book in one range of fabric. The quilts in Mini Masterpieces are all scrappy, so I’m enjoying the opportunity to grab a bundle of fun fabric and go… and to show off my friends’ fabrics too!

Paradigm fabric Sariditty

For February’s quilt, I used Paradigm and the brand new Paradigm SHIFT by Sarah Thomas from Sariditty. The new Paradigm SHIFT includes a range of low-volume coordinates to her first line, Paradigm. As I wanted to show off more as many prints as I could ...

When life gives you scraps… from Veni Vidi Vicky

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
…you have to improvise a little.

My last baby quilt left me with a bunch of HST clippings in aqua and teal hues. The scraps were barely 1.5” square,  would I have trimmed them up before sewing with them I might have ended with a grid as small as 0.5”. Nope, that wasn’t a day for tiny piecing and I don’t need much convincing to skip trimming in general. I was going to wing it that day and just piece those HSTs in the shapes they came in – no discrimination, just improvising.
